Paul Revere & The Raiders Sept 12-Oct 22 Andy Williams Moon River Theatre 2500 W. Hwy 76
Paul Revere has a style; a sixth sense for pleasing an audience. The magic chemistry of his personality has been a major factor in the Raiders' rise to popularity; and not by sheer accident. He has created, over a period of time, a highly polished act built on warmth and spontaneity. Paul has a knack on finding the finest talent and personalities to keep his group a top entertaining act year after year.
"Paul Revere organized the Raiders in 1958 and on stage is a matchless anchorman. He has instinctive timing and though he trades in visual corn, it is a very, very sophisticated corn and his is never an embarrassment.
Because he is a natural, blessed with insight and a feeling for audiences, he pulls off some amazing tricks of sight and sound. He is very witty and frighteningly perceptive with a quick callous turn of a phrase. He knows a bad joke long before it begins to falter. He knows too, those to whom humor does not come easily.
He is a joy to watch because he is doing what he was meant to do. He belongs on a stage as he has a layer of controlling power over his audiences which, though they may never consciously appreciate it, conveys confidence, comfort and easy well-being. Paul Revere has something of Groucho, much Moe, and a little Benny Hill. He is considered the best band leader in rock'n'roll and much of his visual talent remains untapped. There is no knowing in to what contortions the last madman of rock'n'roll will happily writhe!
